My Mechanic was a web app that focused on consumers having the ability to book auto service appointments with their favorite auto shops. On the back end of the application the auto shop had the ability to choose what services was offered, hours, and how many bays allocated for the selected service. The key to My Mechanic was allowing the consumers to access a live calendar that didn’t require a phone call to book/confirm, and the shop was prepared for the customer’s appointment. My role was to help push the project from prototype to a fully realized application that could handle massive amounts of traffic. The design had to be modern enough for the average user but simple enough that it could work for the shop owner who wasn’t fully accustomed with doing scheduling online. In order to pull in the owner’s returning customers we developed a marketing plan which included direct mail marketing that mimicked auto ads already in circulation.
